how do i remove firefox folder from my desktop?

So you have done what others have suggested and Firefox is running fine is that correct ? Can you not just delete the folder now. ? or is it locked ? What about saving your profile (bookmarks/passwords etc) https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data and uninstall and delete that folder then reinstall using full installer (pick which you need) https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/54.0.1/

What's in that folder?
Firefox doesn't usually put any folders on your desktop unless you use the Refresh feature, in which case an Old Firefox Data folder will be created. If you do not need to recover any previous data, you can delete this folder.
There is nothing in the folder. It is a disk image. ???
If its a disk image without anything related to Firefox, then you can just delete it.
I'm a Windows person, so I can't tell you why that might be there, sorry.
Make sure Firefox gets installed properly.
Open the Firefox Disk Image file and drag the Firefox application to the Applications folder on your hard drive. You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the Disk Image, but instead drag it out of the DMG folder.
The above link was very helpful, but doesn't prevent the disk image from returning when I go to Finder->Applications. When I go to Applications, everything fire fox reappears (app & application folder) and the disk image (that was ejected).

The post below was the most "helpful" for my situation (tho the screen shots are a little out of date) for a Mac 2.5, 16Gb Ram, 250Gb Hard Drive
The above didn't solve my issue, though it illuminated the depth of the problem.
- To fully resolve, I removed my operating system (OS) and re-installed it.
- I then reinstalled Sierra OS and Fire Fox without any problems using the link -http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installing_Firefox#Mac_OS_X as a guide.
