I'm running Firefox 54.0.1 (32-bit) on Windows 10 Home Version 1703, Build 15063.413. Either Windows or Firefox causes the browser to hang briefly. I've tried using the Refresh Firefox feature with no success. The internet is full of wacky suggestions to solve the problem. Up until about 3 months ago, Firefox worked perfectly. I'm sure that I'm not the only one with this problem. Can someone give me an intelligent solution to this problem? Perhaps Firefox needs to come up with a solution that would be pushed out as an update. Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Please try this to confirm Windows is performing properly and there is no corrupt files : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929833/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system

Please update or re-install your video software : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration Then also try Without Hardware Acceleration

Note Safe Mode : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

You can also go into windows and set the mouse to be quicker. Without knowing how much ram you have this is a suggestion to increase your Swap File : Note, you Enter the Recommended Size : MICROSOFT VIRTUAL MEMORY

You may want to try this: Open the System Folder then Click on left side Advanced System Settings which opens System Properties click the Advanced Tab then click Performance button Settings then the Advanced Tab then Click the Change under Virtual Memory click Custom Size and Change Size to where it says Recommended Size then Click Set and then Click Apply then please Re-boot.

System - -> Advanced System Settings --> System Properties - -> Advanced Tab - -> Change Virtual Memory - -> Custom Size - -> ENTER Recommended Size - -> Set - -> Apply-- > Reboot

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Pkshadow,

Thanks for your extensive reply. I'm fairly certain that my Windows 10 is up to date and corruption-free. I download and install all updates and patches and run regular virus checks.

That leaves Mozilla/Firefox holding the bag. It seems to me that Mozilla needs to correct the problem in its software (Chrome runs without a hitch).

A few more weeks of these delay headaches (experienced while typing this), and I'm moving to Chrome. Enough is enough.

Please note this is not a "I'm fairly certain" thing. This is a request to follow the instructions and for you to do the instructions and to report back ....

Those instructions only take a few mins to run to confirm that there is no corrupted files which Updates, Scans or virus programs will not tell you. Also with out confirmation that you have actually done this recommendation and confirmed there is not a Windows corrupted file We could be at this for months with nothing ever done to help you because a Windows File IS Corrupted.

Please redo this one instead of previous instructions : Repair System Registry and Files

Run the Windows Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) and System File Checker (SFC) tools as Administrator. The DISM and SFC tools scan the integrity of the Windows image and all protected system files replaces corrupted, damaged and incorrect versions. To run the DISM command use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the Power User menu, then select Command Prompt (Admin). Type "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" (without quotes) and press Enter. While running DISM you may notice the process will appear to pause at 20%. After a few minutes the operation will continue.??

To run the SFC command use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the Power User menu and select Command Prompt (Admin). Type "SFC /SCANNOW" (without quotes) and press Enter. For more information on using SFC, please refer to the Microsoft KB: Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files/

Also suggest if only 8gig of ram to do previous post instructions.

Please aslo Update your Flash to version 26.0.0.137 released this date.

Please confirm that you have installed Windows Update KB4025342 released this date (Patch Tuesday).

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Thank you for your kind reply. I stopped "reporting back" to anyone years ago. Thanks to you, I'm now a happy Chrome user (BTW it runs seamlessly). Have a good life.
