Firefox 53.03x32 interferes with AutoHotkey. Can you fix this?

I rely on AutoHotkey to map my keyboard because my system is a Windows 7 tablet, which prevents other key mappers from working.) This is a serious problem which makes Firefox very difficult to use. This problem is recent and I therefore believe that it started when I upgraded to version 53.03.

If you can't get this fixed, can you describe how to downgrade from version 53.03 and save my current session?

Is the problem that you can't use some Autohotkey shortcuts in Firefox, or that even when Firefox is not the active application, it will intercept those shortcuts?

Mozilla has two release tracks for Firefox: the regular release (Firefox 53) and the Extended Support Release (based on Firefox 52). If something fundamental has changed in Firefox, you could consider switching to the Extended Support Release. Although conceived for business use, anyone can run ESR.

Thanks very much for your prompt attention.

The situation is a bit more complicated than I had thought.

First, I noticed, after submitting my question, that, while Firefox was running, AutoHotkey also was disabled in VLC Player. I then closed and restarted Firefox and the problem is gone for now.

I previously had this problem with Vivaldi and attributed it to the Chrome Engine, which also has other problems.

So I will continue to see how AutoHotkey behaves with Firefox and report back.

I have to say that, in general, Firefox is vastly improved since the last time I tried it several years ago. I was a devotee of the old Opera (12.17) which has great functionality but does not work properly with modern implementations of HTML5. I have found that the new Firefox has allowed me to recover most of the functionality of the old Opera and I am grateful for this.

After using Vivaldi for a while, I concluded that it is unworkable for several reasons, which I attribute to the Chrome Engine. I hope Firefox continues to stay away from the Chrome Engine.
