Thank you for your consideration

Have been unable to download anything for a couple of days, now. Uninstalled and re-installed.

It sounds like the problem is the hard drive. How much room is left on the drive? Can you move unneeded/little used files to another drive?

Movies, audio . . . . .

Done and done!

With ff installed, C:/ has 603Mb free space.

D:/ has 50Gb+ free space, which is why I want to run it from there.

Who puts a 16Gb drive in boot position?

SO.. a modified stub for a D:/ install? or A much more flexible installer stub?

Did both of those things months ago, and it was helpful to some extent.

I'm reading into your answer: "there is NOT a way to steer the firefox installation to another drive" right?

Note that the Firefox profile folder takes a lot more memory (a few hundred MB in both AppData\Roaming and AppData\Local) than the Firefox installation folder. So you should probably move the profile folder as well. You will first have to create a new folder on the D: drive that you exclusively use for the Firefox profile folder and do not create this folder in the Firefox program folder, but in another location like D:\Firefox\profile. You can use the Profile Manager to create a new folder and click "Choose Folder" on the second screen to point to the folder that you have created before.

Firefox uses two locations for the Firefox profile folder, one for the main profile folder that stores personal data and another location for temporary data like the disk cache. Location used for the main profile in "AppData\Roaming" that keeps your personal data.

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\
