AGAIN, I have just downloaded ver 52 and I'm sticking with it. You can push this junk on the masses, but not to me. I bet the PC version is next to get some ridiculous update. So that's now turned off too!

If you want to let me know when you've reverted these changes, I'll gladly continue updating once I have reviewed them.

I haven't seen Firefox 53 for Android yet. Are you using it on a phone or a tablet?

YouTube I don't know why Firefox would stop a website's media player with the screen off. Hopefully further investigation will reveal how that works. I don't want to burn up batteries listening to streaming radio!

Tabs I noticed in the release notes:

Users can enable two columns tabs setting in portrait mode

I don't know if that is related to your comment about "this side-by-side tab selection screen is horrible" but it sounds like there probably is a way to toggle it off.

Thanks for the info. The youtube thing is really more of a concern. Also, the beta version is forcing facebook messenger. What is wrong with this browser all the sudden?

I'm starting to believe Google is involved with this also....probably has something to do with Google trying to get people to pay for Youtube Red, which in my case will obviously never happen. The different mobile version of Youtube that only had the particular appearance in Firefox which had functions long-lost in the Youtube app, is apparently gone.

I do not know the old URL, but I do not think it was the one that is showing up now, which is: "https://m.youtube.com".

Typical silicon valley greed. Guess it's time to find a way around this.
