About 5+ years ago I combined email files and folders in Seamonky and there may even have been a few Netscape emails and folders. As I remember it , it was almost a drag and drop from one profile to another. The instructions were found under IIRC installation and migration of Seamonkey . The instructions were good and process easy. I combined profiles and msg back to 1997. I've search for instructions to do that with Thunderbird and have not found anything is it possible?

That got it, it's installed. I'm going to have to get a full size monitor to add to the laptop or see the optometrist for a check up. I'll mark this solved after I've had a chance to work with it a bit. Thanks for all your Help.

My instructions are on a computer in storage. I google "seamonkey suport" and I think I found the instructions;

I'm going to have to research the Thunderbird docs and see if there a "Import Wizard" equivalentor install the input and export add-on . I'll follow up here when I've got an answer. I had assumed that there wasn't any seamonkey since it wasn't on the front page.

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Importing_folders for how to import folders using the ImportExportTools add-on (and how to get and install that add-on).

tanstaafl, Thanks for the link. I had tried to install this add-on previously and couldn't find it. My OS is Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and thunderbird is 45.5.1. There seems to be a disconnect between what the instructions are and what I see on the monitor and there is no way to resolve the issue. I put the add-on name in the search box and no find find, no way to browse files. I filed a bug I hope with bugzilla. The file is downloaded and in my download directory. I'll look at the directory structure and see if I can find some place to move the file to.

rant why arn't logins the same across mozilla support is different than bugzilla.

There is a bug in the built-in search function for add-ons in Thunderbird, it doesn't find all of the add-ons on the Mozilla add-ons web site. That's why that KB article has a link to click on and tells you how to download and install the add-on.

It describes how to install the add-on using the gear-like icon in the add-ons pane. You could also drag and drop the add-on from your file manager to that pane. I believe if you wanted to install the add-on by moving it into a directory in the profile you'd have to examine its contents to find its AppId in the manifest file, create a child directory with the AppId in the extensions directory, and then move it there. I suggest you use the gear like icon instead.

I've attached a screenshot of Thunderbird after clicking tools, add-on, plug-ins. Where is the gear icon? The only gear icon I see is for the system and that don't do it.

Find the edit field that has grey "Search all add-ons" text in the upper right corner. Just to the left is a gear like icon (for a list box) similar to what Google uses in Gmail. It has a small black downwards arrow just to its right. The icon and the arrow have a rectangular border around them.

If that doesn't help click on the "search all add-ons" edit field. Then press the Tab key several times. It will shift the focus among the different widgets. About the fifth time you press Tab it should shift the focus to the gear like icon. It will highlight the borders of the rectangle that contains the gear like icon.

I updated http://kb.mozillazine.org/Importing_folders to include a screen shot of the icon.
