Hi. I'm running firefox v45.3 on Linux. Firefox doesn't seem to render the text at all on certain sites, for example on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ (see screenshot https://imgur.com/a/6namP ). I've tried to restart the browser in safe-mode, cleared the cache and disabled hardware acceleration but none of those things seems to help. Any ideas what might be causing this?

Hi

Have you considered updating your copy of Firefox? Not only may it fix this issue, but it will make sure that you have the latest security updates and new features. You can read more about how to update here.

I hope this helps, but if not, please come back here and we can look into an alternative solution for you.

Yes, I have tried that as well. I've even tried running developer edition to make sure I'm at the very latest version. Still doesn't help.

If you use Select All (either from the right-click context menu or using the Linux shortcut, which on Windows is Ctrl+A) can you see the text? If so, there may be something causing "white on white" rendering, which would at least be something to troubleshoot. If the text is completely missing but with the layout preserved, that's a huge puzzle.

You can right-click and select "Inspect Element" to open the Inspector ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Web Developer) with this element selected.

You can check the font used for selected text in the Font tab in the right pane of the Inspector. Set devtools.fontinspector.enabled to true on the about:config page to enable the Font tab.

jscher2000: There is no text there, so it's not a "white-on-white" thing going on.

cor-el: Your comment led me on the right track! Tried reinstalling my font on linux, no luck. What solved it, was a thing you mentioned in another post I found.

   Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced
[ ] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above" (Disabled that option).

Works fine now, thx for the help :)
