Hi banana9450, do you mean on the Options page, in the Security panel, you cannot check the box for "Remember logins for sites"?

One possible reason for that is if you are working in a private browsing window. Sometimes this is indicated by a "mask" icon near the upper right of the window frame. If Firefox is set to use automatic private browsing mode at startup, then there's no mask.

One of the limitations of private windows is that the Password Manager is not active. (Usernames and passwords are not saved)

To check whether Firefox is set for automatic private browsing:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options

In the left column, click Privacy.

On the right side, if the selector says either "Firefox will: Remember history" or "Firefox will: Never remember history", change that to "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history". Then you can observe the checkbox for "Always use private browsing mode".

If you want to use automatic private browsing, you could consider using an add-on to manage your passwords. Your security software might already include one, or you could consider popular services like these (I have not tried them myself):

(I actually do not know whether they work smoothly in private windows, but I don't recall hearing any complaints that they don't)
