unable to update flashplayer in windows 10, get error Application initialization error

For the last 3 months I have been having difficulty updating flashplayer in Firefox. I have uninstalled firefox, and reinstalled. Uninstalled flashplayer and reinstalled. Can't install the 23_Xa install version and i have closed firefox and tried to install... still get the Application Initialization error. Talked with HP techs 3 times and they think I need to do a complete system recovery. I am unwilling to do this. Went online and sounds like a firewall issue with Adobe's compact installer? I have gone to online website in the forum and still get error message. I don't know how to solve this? Thanks.

I'm not sure what "23_Xa" refers to. The following link should retrieve the installer for the plugin used by Firefox: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player.exe

This could indeed be a Firewall issue with Adobe's compact installer.
Have you tried the   'full'   or   'offline'   installer, as offered here:
https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html

Hi, Yes, unfortunately, several times attempted... to no avail. Interestingly enough, the first time HP technical service helped me update a few months ago, we were able to update via another online link. Also, one time they helped me update via Firefox tools.. add on, but haven't been able to update since...
