Tried to play a video from my camera, and Acrobat says it is not a supported file type.
Camera is at least 10 years old. Am using Windows 7 and Windows media player says the same thing.
Chosen solution
Do you mean a recorded video from a digital camera, or a live stream from a webcam/security cam?
Digital Camera
If your camera saved the movies with a .MOV extension*, most likely they are coded internally using Motion JPEG (an inefficient and mostly obsolete encoding). To play those, now that QuickTime is no longer recommended, try VLC.
* By default, Windows hides numerous file extensions. I recommend setting Windows to show all extensions. See: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensions
Live Stream
Can you link to the manufacturer's instructions on how to view the stream? If you can't find it, what model camera is it?

It was a recorded video on a digital camera. The book says it is using QuickTime Motion JPEG. The camera is an Olympus Stylus 710. I will try your link VLC.
