After using Mozilla Firefox successfully for ages, now it completely crashes my laptop. It crashes when simply opening the program, so I cannot submit a report.
I have read the previous advice given, but I cannot even open the program to submit a crash report. The simple act of trying to open the program crashes my computer. It only happens to my laptop, not my main tower computer.
Chosen solution
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).
Is the problem still there?
Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?

Thank you! This problem has been going on for months! Months ago I could not find any resolutions, nor even seeing the problem addressed. While I was awaiting an answer, I browsed around again. These are the steps I took to fix, and it worked.
1. I started Firefox in Safe Mode (by holding down the Shift Key). It worked fine in Safe Mode, opened fine, allowed me to browse a few places. 2. I hit the Refresh button, that reset my browser to factory. It disabled all of my extensions, which I now feel was the problem. 3. I restarted the program and it is working just fine.
Prior to this, months ago, the instructions were not clear about the difference between starting the browser in safe mode vs starting the computer in safe mode. I had previously attempted starting the computer in safe mode, but the browser would still crash everything.
Thank you, FredMcD for your helpful reply! :)
Glad to help. Safe Surfing.
If you want, reinstall the add-ons one at a time and watch for a problem.
