Can somebody tell me what Firefox Setup Stub.47.0.1.exe is ?
I've downloaded this a couple of days ago (on my Windows 10 laptop); trying to find out what it does, I get a notification from UAC : 'this app can't run on this PC' .
Trying to find out why , I only get: 'Incompatibel Program'
Maybe it wasn't such a bright idea to download something, not knowing what it actually does , but hey: I totally trust Firefox ........
It's still in one of my folders, but I can't open it .
Before having a go at Microsoft, I should at least be able to tell them what this app is/does; can anybody tell me ?

But since you already have Firefox installed and running, you don't need either of those files...

When you download Firefox from the main page here:
https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/new/
you get the "stub" installer. It's a quick download that connects back to Mozilla servers for additional files. Sometimes security software blocks stub installers. In that case, you can download a "full" (sometimes also called an "offline") installer from this page:

Thank you so much !
I might as well come clean now:
I was trying to get Firefox to replace Edge ; as nothing else seemed to work, I was hoping that downloading FF in Bing/Edge might do the trick ......
Since this 'stub' seems to be on my C:\drive: can I just leave it there or should I remove it (don't really know how though; I'd have to try and find it in the control panel, I quess ..... ).
But I've got my answer (big relief); thank you once again !
Have a nice day !

You don't need that EXE file. It's probably in your Downloads folder, or you probably can use your Edge history or downloads list to locate it and then delete it. But it's not urgent. I don't think it is doing any harm just sitting there.
In what sense did you want to replace Edge? Is it taking over duties you prefer that Firefox would do?
Well, I bought this laptop (my first) four months ago Windows 10 being it's OS (worked with a word processor and diskettes till than, much to the discontent of my employer).
I soon found out that this duo Bing/Edge (how do I put this nicely ? ) isn't quite what I expected ......
But I need Windows for my work (Word and Notepad and snipping tool), but for everything else I use Google/Firefox.
By the way: I just found out that the 'FF-stub' has been removed from my downloads ........ that's Microsoft for you; (but maybe that's not fair ? )
But I've taken up too much of your time already (sorry; ! )
Thank you so much for everything and again: have a nice day ! (it's 23.36hrs over here)

Hi jscher,
Sorry to bother you again, but I wanted to make absolutely sure that this 'stub' was nowhere on my C:\drive.
'Went to look for it first thing in the morning (control panel): it's not there .... (?)
Like I already discovered last night: it has miraculously disappeared from my downloads ........
It makes me nervous when things happen and I don't know why or how, so I decided to post a question on the Microsoft Community (of all places ! ) and see if anybody there can tell me what's happened to it.
I couldn't leave it alone and tried to open it again; this time I got a question:
Do you want this program to make changes to this computer ?
I am so tempted to click on 'yes', but I won't (curiosity killed the cat ..... )
I want to be sure that nothing weird is going on.
Should I just let it go ?
If I don't hear from you, I will (let it go, that is).
Have a nice day (or pleasant dreams; whichever the case may be) !

Modified
The entries in the Windows control panel ("Uninstall a Program") are created by program installers as they run.
BEFORE they run, between the time you download them and the time they run, they do not appear in that control panel.
If you were to run it, which is unnecessary, it would give you an entry similar to "Mozilla Firefox 47.0.1" which you already have, there shouldn't be a second entry.
You're right; that's exactly what I found: Mozilla Firefox 47.01 - I'm gonna let it go now. But thank you for the reassurance; I needed that !
I'm facing another problem since this morning: I have two e-mail-accounts, and I always login with Firefox.
Went to my gmail-account, got the message that I am now logging in with Internet Explorer (my default Windows browser being Edge ....... ) ?????
I don't suppose this has anything to do with my downloading this 'stub' ....... nah, of course not; right ?
'Did change my password right away though and now I'm going to make sure that Firefox is still my browser .......
Thanks again for everything !
Have a great weekend !
