Hi, my old computer died suddenly and I had to buy a new computer. Luckily, I have used an external hard drive with it as backup, so I have been able to move my important data from the EHD to my new computer.

But I have not been able to find my Firefox bookmarks on the EHD.....so I am asking if: 1) those bookmarks would be stored on the EHD, and 2) if they are, what file/folder should I look in to find them. Thank you very much for any help rendered.

Hi Jay, Firefox stores your data in your Windows user profile. Normally this would be under:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Since AppData is a hidden folder, you need to turn on viewing of hidden files and folders. See: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files

Within that folder, wherever it might be in your backup, look for a bookmarkbackups folder. This would contain automatic backups in a compressed format. Copy the latest to your desktop, and then use the steps in this article to restore it:

Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer

Note: I'm assuming you haven't saved any priceless new bookmarks. If you have, they will be overwritten by the restore process so you might want to make an export first. See this article for the steps: Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks.

Did you save the whole profile or just the bookmarks?
