Every time when Firefox is launched in Windows OS, it tries to access Internet without asking first. This is related to pre-fetch as it is disabled. This is not related to auto update either as it is disabled. This is not related to Add-on either. After inspection it's outgoing IP, it's trying to access my_geo_area.compute.amazonaws.com, with various IPs returned by DNS server. I am trying to block this IPs with affecting its normal Internet function, but they are too many IPs corresponding to that DNS. MS Internet Explorer at least does not have this behavior. If you are doing some data analytics, admit it and say so. I am using RPi as router/gateway/firwall and do pay attention to all network traffic. There is no option in Firefox to disable to this activity. The partial list of IPs are 52.24.123.95, 52.25.189.162, 2.25.255.252, 52.27.80.69, 52.32.9.85, 52.32.150.180, 52.34.245.108, 54.213.112.246, 54.200.125.198, 54.218.66.17, 54.149.224.177.

Firefox makes various connections in the background, determining your version, checking for updates, updating the malicious software blocklist, etc. It is recommended that you leave these connections as is for optimal performance and security. you can learn more at How to stop Firefox from making automatic connections

No. This generic reply without looking into details of my original question is not accepted. (1) I mentioned that "Auto Update" is disabled in the Options, so Firefox should honor it (2) "Firefox makes various connections in the background" is an irrelevant statement to my question, where I asked why Firefox initiates SSL (port 443) Internet access during the application starting up for unknown reasons. (3) "It is recommended that you leave these connections as is for optimal performance and security. you can learn more at How to stop Firefox from making automatic connections" Those are also statements of generic nature, not fit to some one with expert computer knowledge. (4) Firefox wants to keep a record of when one uses it, most likely.

Did you even read the reply I left you, including the linked article?

Please, do not answer it if you do not know the issue. It is a waste of time to communicate this way back and forth. As I mention I am a computer expert, so reasonable assumption should have been made in terms of what kind of efforts I have already made to trace down this issue, including basic and advanced web search.

Answers to "How to stop Firefox from making automatic connections":

(1) Automatic updates and Security Again, it is disabled (2) Prefetching Again, it is disabled (3) User-invoked content Irrelevant. Home page is blank. We are talking about Firefox starting up with blank page trying to connect Internet, Mozilla's servers, hosted in amazonaws.com. (4) Mozilla content Irrelevant. (5) Diagnostics Disabled. Also, nothing needs to be sent when Firefox starting up with blank page unless it wants to call home, Mozilla's servers, hosted in amazonaws.com,. (6) Media capabilities Irrelevant. I do not play any media. (7) Malware Irrelevant. I am a computer expert. No any malware. (8) Loopback connection Irrelevant. Nonsense in my case.
