Can you update Firefox for Android without loosing the settings and addons?

Chosen solution

The upgrade to FF 47.0 worked: The settings and addons have been preserved. It seems that the developers have finally fixed the problems - thanks.

Nothing gets lost when updating via Google Play. How do you update Firefox?

Hi Christ1

Thanks for your reply. I'm always updating via Google Play. Except for my bookmarks which are synced back from the Firefox account, all my other settings and addons are gone after an update. Three weeks ago I uninstalled the app, rebooted my device and installed it again from Google Play. Unfortunately that didn't help - I'm still loosing all my settings and addons on each update.

Background info: My device is a GT-I9505 running CM13 (Marshmallow 6.0.1).

Did you also remove the profile, i.e. clear all data prior to deleting the app? That means you'd need to set up Firefox and install any add-ons again.

Sorry, I can't remember if I deleted the profile prior to the uninstall. But let me use TiB to restore FF to the version I had 3 weeks ago ...

Ok, I've restored FF 45.0.1 from TiB (App+Data), deleted the profile, uninstalled the app, did a fresh install of FF for Android via Google Play (46.0.1), re-entered all my settings and re-installed my addons. I guess we have to wait for the next update. I will keep you posted ...
