I'm not sure that it relates to your specific problem but you should search Google for your two Extent plug-ins. It doesn't make happy reading.

Firefox displays the "This is embarrassing" screen after a crash when it has trouble doing an automatic crash recovery.

If Firefox doesn't appear to be crashing but you get that screen anyway, Firefox may not be shutting down completely. To give Firefox the best chance of finishing all its shutdown file maintenance, use the Exit command on the menu (not the "red X" button). Either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "power" button
  • (menu bar) File > Exit

It sounds as though your Firefox crashed and was not able to restore the previous session successfully. Does this happen when you power on your computer, or do you normally leave it running all the time and you just wake it up, for example, by moving the mouse around?

Use one of these to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar.

  • "3-bar" menu button > Exit (Power button)
  • Windows: File > Exit
  • Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox
  • Linux: File > Quit
