Greetings, I have been using Firefox on all my devices for god knows how long but I recently had to reinstall it on my laptop. This has, sadly, caused some issues to appear, such as videos in YouTube and other similar websites stuttering (losing frames and rolling back 1-2 frames frequently) and the same with .gif images in 9gag etc. I have looked for a solution myself, tried several (disable Hardware Acceleration on Flash, update all related Add-ons and extending the time on the tab auto-save) but none seemed to have worked. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Let's do a re-install,

Flash: Grab the uninstaller from here: Uninstall Flash Player | Windows Uninstall Flash Player | Mac

Then reinstall the latest version.

Flash Player Version Version: 20.0.0.306
https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html
Note: Windows users should download the ‘’’active_x’’’ for “Internet Explorer,” and the ‘’’plugin’’’ for “Plugin-based browsers” (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the ’’’plugin’’’ only. Not the ’’’active_x’’’.

Adobe still offers Flash 18.0.0.326 as its extended support release further down

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:

  • see if there are updates for your graphics drivers

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

https://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround

  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

Thanks for the quick reply, however reinstall on Flash had no effect (I'm usin win7 so there shouldn't be conflicts with pre-istalled addons), all of my drivers are updated and I have already tried the suggested settings changes on the add-on itself. I have no idea what could be causing the problem, I will provide any info requested that could be relevant.

P.S. I installed Chrome to try if it would have the same problems, I had no issues with it, same as Internet Explorer. So this seems to be a problem focused around Firefox. I don't like Chrome myself and everyone knows IE's record-breaking speed, so I'd like to fix it instead of switching to a new browser.
