The path is C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\Temp\(A stream of numbers and letters).xpi.

Is this a problem and what can I do about it?

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate - 64 bit and Firfox 44.0.2

Chosen solution

That s something you will need to check with Zone Alarm's support.

Note that a fileneme ending in .xpi may well be something intended to run as an extension in Firefox.

Some software that is not a virus may still be unwanted, and that may include software lumped into a category sometimes called adware that may do things like change search results, or search sites, or generate adverts

You may find the info in this link helps with your problem and the removal of Win32/BrowseFox.G

  2. And the general advice from Firefox Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware

It is probably best to follow the advice in that order. The first one should get rid of the specific problem flagged by zonealarm. The second link advises using multiple tools and should catch anything else you have.

Thank you John99.

These steps got rid of a lot of junk I was unaware of and one irritating program that opened in the notification area after every start up.
