Firefox won't load any site (wheel keeps spinning) while other browsers are fine. If I Refresh Firefox it works, however not if I install any add-on.
Hi there,
Firefox was working fine last week, but this week I have been struggling with this problem. I have tried many things, and read many thread with the closest one to my issue being this one: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1079453
Problem is if I Refresh firefox it works but as soon as I install any extension, even known stable extensions like firebug, it stops working. That is, after installing the extension I close the browser and on re-opening the issue happens (infinite spinning wheel with blank page). Some extensions don't need to restart so I can use those while I have firefox open but I have to re-install everytime I close the browser.
I have tried disabling ipv6, cleaning everything (re-installing), disabling dns pre-fetch, disabling cache & cookies, do not track and other privacy options...
I am at a loss here... I need firefox for work specially add-ons like firebug and dns flusher, the IT department here came and went without fixing it actually making the problem worse. I don't usually post on support forums until I have exhausted every option I know or can find.
I thank in advance anyone willing to help me out, and apologize if I am not clear enough.
Regards,
Julio.

Hi, maybe to try a Clean reinstall ?
This means you remove your Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. This process does not remove your Firefox profile data (such as bookmarks and passwords), since that information is stored in a different location.
To do a clean reinstall of Firefox, please follow these steps: Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
- Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from the next full installer link https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ and save the setup file to your computer.
- After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu and click the close button ).
- Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
- Windows:
- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
- Windows:
- Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
- Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
- Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Thank you.

Hello Julio
any luck if you boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) ? See if that a allow to start firefox normal any if you install your essential add-ons works normal again.
thank you
Hi ideato,
Thank you for the reply. I wasn't able to get it to work by doing that, but for some reason when I open Firefox from inside any application (clicking a link on skype) it works but not if I use the shortcuts or the executable itself. It is strange but it makes me think the problem is probably local.
