Does audio/video or advertisement pics in an "unopened tab" affect Firefox performance?
From what I gather on the forum audio that leaks from a tab can be muted. That implies that more substantial activity such as periodic refreshes to a page to download advertisements could also impact Firefox performance even though the tab has not been clicked. Is that true?
Chosen solution
Once the tab has been loaded, any video or audio active in that tab will have a negative impact on Firefox's performance.
In the options, you can tell Firefox to not load the tab until it is selected, but once you select the tab the first time, the website will remain loaded.

This is not a cure, but should let the web page load without crashing.
