What happened to all of my personalization? Where are my add-ons? My home page is gone. Stuff I use to work with is gone!

I turned on Firefox this morning to go through my regular morning routine and all of my personalization, add-ons, home page, everything is gone? Where is it? How can I get that stuff back. I need it to work efficiently. There is no way I can re-create all the stuff I had from scratch? Where is it? How to I reload the old Firefox???

Do you have an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop in case you have used the Refresh feature in Firefox and created a new profile?

You can recover data from such a saved profile, but be cautious to recover possibly corrupted files.

You can copy files like these from the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop to the current Firefox profile folder to recover specific data.

  • bookmarks and history: places.sqlite
  • bookmark backups: JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder
  • SQLite files like cookies.sqlite (cookies) and formhistory.sqlite (saved form data)
  • logins.json and key3.db (decryption key) for Passwords saved in the Password Manager
  • cert8.db for stored intermediate certificates (Certificate Manager)
  • persdict.dat for words you added to the spelling checker dictionary
  • permissions.sqlite and possibly content-prefs.sqlite for Permissions and Site Preferences
  • sessionstore.js for open tabs and pinned tabs and tab groups
