My e-mail server is Comcast; I am using OS 10.11 and Firefox 42.0. I deleted reinstalled Firefox and cleared the cache.

I do not have this problem when using Apple Mail 9.1

Use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop-down list:

  1. click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop-down list
  2. highlight an entry in the drop-down list with the mouse or cursor Down key
do not click the mouse or press the Enter key
  3. press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to delete the highlighted entry

I still need help.

Here is what I got when attempting to delete the name from the drop-down list: Maybe I missed or misunderstood part of your reply. The Whitmire name continues to remain in the drop down list.

Firefox would only show the names in such a suggestions list and not an icon at the far left. The presence of this icon makes it more likely that the website provides the suggestions and not Firefox. So you need to check the FAQ of the website or contact them for support.
