Crash ID: bp-4b9a8f6f-ae0b-4de1-ae48-bb6002151012

A couple weeks ago Firefox started crashing on startup. No major changes on this computer. It's an older Dell running Vista with 3 GB ram. I have completely deleted and reloaded Firefox. It will not start in safe mode. I've run the sfc scan and no issues were found. I ran Norton and also found no issues.

hi, thank you for providing a crash id! looking at this report, it looks like it may be caused by external software on the computer. please go into your system's control panel and remove any software labelled "Freecorder" or similar or by the publisher "Applian Technologies" or any other toolbars.

To expand on that last message: Firefox is crashing within seconds of startup if you have either of the Applian Technologies programs Freecorder or Replay Media Catcher in combination with Norton/Symantec security software (and possibly some other security software).

If you prefer not to uninstall the program, but you don't need it right now, other users have successfully used msconfig to prevent FlvSrvc.exe from running at startup and that fixed it.

About msconfig, see: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/using-system-configuration

I just uninstalled because it really wasn't used. Works like a charm! Thanks!
