Every time i start up ANY browser ( Firefox, GoogleChrome ... ) Baidu opens as my home page.

-I Searched my entire computer, i can't find a Baidu.exe or any sign of Baidu in my PC. I did find a Shortcut "target" edit that added a command to open some file in program data ( i deleted that ), but Baidu still pops up.

-And i can't go to Options > General or Advanced because then firefox crashes. ( i think it's because the virus doesn't want me to change any settings )

-I scanned my entire PC with Malwarebytes , Microsoft Essentials and SuperAntiSpyware. They found 40 errors/viruses and removed them, but that didn't fix anything either.

So.... how do you remove a browser search engine virus without going to Options? Where do i start?

Chosen solution

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar and search for prefs that refer to baidu. You can reset user set (bold) prefs via the right-click context menu to the default value.

thank you very much Cor-el :) the first solution on that blog worked. All my browsers are clean and that pesky virus is gone.

Seems it was hiding in System32 and App Data in some dlls. AntiMalware and MicrosoftEssentials couldn't detect them. And i reset everything in about:config that wasn't a default firefox url.
