I have upgraded to 40.0.3 and when I use my online mail (ATT.net/Yahoo mail) I can't get the emoticons to insert into my email. I have made sure I'm using their full featured mail and rich text. I very briefly see the words 'happy' with a typed smiley face - like for a tenth of second - it disappears and then nothing is inserted. The emoticons at the bottom of the mail page are bright yellow graphics. I did this all the time before. I logged on using Internet Explorer and they work fine.

You can check what items ABP is blocking on that page and make an exception.

You can ask advice at the Adblock Plus forum if there are problems with this extension or with a filter list or if you need help to create a filter rule to block content.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

We did all of those things, but what finally worked was disabling Ad Block Plus. It was set to do auto updates (have used it for a long time) and possibly the last update had some new quirk to it. Is there an Ad Blocker which is more compatible with Firefox?
