thunderbird can't find the tempfile when i want to send an email
This the original Thunderbird message: Translated, since i use the dutch version. A problem has occured attaching the file:///C:/DOCUME~1/Pierre/LOCALS~1/Temp/nsemail.html to the file. Do you wish to continue?

What is your anti-virus software?
Hi,
I'm using Avast version 10.3.2225 Thunderbird is the latest version: 38.2.0
Have been running both programs on this same computer for ages without problems.
It is in an 'AppData' folder, so make hidden files and folders visible.
Locate and delete nsmail.tmp file.
I note you call it nsemail.html . I usually come across people calling it nsmail.tmp.
Try to start *Windows* in safe mode with networking enabled.

- Win7 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode
- XP http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx
Still in Windows safe mode, start Thunderbird in safe mode.

Does the problem go away?
--> Toad-Hall,
You're right about the file name. In fact there are 2. a thunderbird tempfile, nsmail.tmp and a firefox-one, nsemail.html. The latter is the file mentioned in Thunderbirds message box. Anyway, deleting one, the other, or both files doesn't fix the problem.
Also i found out that the problem doesn't occur all the time..... Strange.

In safe mode there seems to be no problem. But then again, since the problem doesn't always occur, it might have been a coincidence. Also, dis-enabling the top shield in Avast (i don't know the english term, in dutch it is called "bestandsysteemschild") seems to solve the problem. But i don't want it disabled all the time.
Any suggestions? thx
it might have been a coincidence.
I'm almost certain your Avast is causing the problem.
dis-enabling the top shield in Avast ... seems to solve the problem. But i don't want it disabled all the time.
That would indeed be a bad idea. However, there is no need for Avast to scan your Thunderbird profile folder. Create an exception for the profile folder in Avast and you should be good to go.
Hi,
I've opted for a similar solution. I made an execption for both the files in Avast. Problem seems to be solved. thx.
