will the firefox app work well on my kindle fire 8.9"color tablet?
No real details about this question other than I have been told that Amazon altered the os code which prevents certain apps from running...especially apps from Google. I have no idea about the truth of this. I would like to run firefox on my kindle fire but have been very reluctant to do so. Please advise...especially if you have direct experience with both a kindle fire and firefox. Thanks.

I set up Firefox on a Kindle Fire HDX about 9 months ago and it worked back then. I no longer use that Kindle, so I don't know if current versions still work or how well they work.
The following forums have a lot of device enthusiasts who may have more info or a different perspective:
You have to install it outside of Google Play since it does not have Google Play. Mozilla did have Firefox up on Amazon app store for Firefox 9.0 briefly however it was found that Amazon modified and resigned the apk which caused problems so Mozilla it pulled shortly after. Mozilla has contacted Amazon many times about modifying this policy. So far they have been unwilling.
Note that Release and Beta versions installed manually does not get updates.
