Sync Doesn't Work After Formatting PC

Hi. I formatted my pc yesterday. I installed firefox and then i logged in to sync, but nothing happened. My bookmarks, passwords or extensions didn't appear. All gone. Sync is empty now.

I even tried to install an older version of firefox (firefox 28) and tried to setup sync and update back to latest version. Didn't help.

What can i do? Please help me.

Sorry for your loss. Sync wasn't intended to be used as backup medium; it's intended to synchronize data across multiple devices . The problem that most people run into when trying to pull that off [using it in lieu of a proper backup] is with their Sync account password - if they have a problem getting connected to Sync and they request a new password their data is wiped from the Sync server, as intended. Sync data is encrypted using the account password as the "key" to decrypt the data - the data is worthless with a different password.

I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. When i install firefox 28 i can log in to sync with my old password but firefox 39 asks for my new password.

I think there is no way to get my bookmarks then. Thanks for your help.
