I have some local web resources available only in local network by a special host name, i.e. "compname1".

When I try to open it, Firefox on Android search this name using default search engine. Sometimes it even open some websites with .com at the end. I think this is totally wrong. I didn't select option to search it, and instead it send my input to internet, when it could be private.

I would like to disable such feature so I could select when I would like to search or when I want to open the URL.

I tried this options: http://compname1/dir1 compname1:80 compname1:80/dir1

None of this worked correctly.

How I could fix this?

Going to a search engine is the keyword feature, and adding .com is the fixup feature. You can disable both as follows:

(1) Open a new tab to about:config (type about:config in the Awesomebar and tap the go arrow or tap Enter).

You may want to bookmark this for easier future access.

(2) In the search box, type keyw and pause while Firefox filters the list

(3) Scroll down to and tap keyword.enabled, then tap Toggle to flip the value from true to false.

(4) In the search box at the top, type fix and pause while Firefox filters the list

(5) Scroll down to and tap browser.fixup.alternate.enabled, then tap Toggle to flip the value from true to false.

That should do it. Does it work?

Hello!

Thank you for your help and sorry for so long reply. Your advice didn't help me, I still can't open local intranet resource. As I understand from what I've found on the web, problem is not in Firefox. This is the issue from Android OS because it can't resolve local hostnames.

But I know that Network Plugins for Total Commander for Android could open local resources using their network name.

At the same time, local IP addresses such as 192.168.1.2 works just fine. I could use that too, but my setup of Owncloud works on local domain, so it not working properly through IP address. I could fix that, but it still very uncomfortable. Local host name could be shorter and easy to type.

Again, thanks for the help! I appreciate that!
