Hello Mozilla, I'm using Firefox 36.0.1, my OS is Windows 7.

After I update to Firefox 36.0.1, every time my network disconnect ( my router is disconnected once a day), I can't use Firefox so that I must close it. But after closing, firefox process still remain and I can't terminate it by Task Manager. if I try to open application again, I will report that "Your firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible".

So that I must restart the computer to kill firefox process. When I open Firefox again, the report is the same. I did clean reinstall once, but can't solve the problem. I'm very tired when syncing my profile again and again ( It's lucky for me because I signed an account for syncing).

Please answer me soon. Thanks for your help.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem

Hmm, I reinstalled again without any addon, testing it and...it happended again. Disabled hardware acceleration too.

If I want to open firefox again (without restart way), I must create a new Firefox profile. But when I close that Firefox, another process freeze in Task Manager.

It seems that not only me involve this issue. I found a topic on Internet, many people told that they have trouble with the new Firefox version.

  1. Please re-install firefox.
  2. Delete profiles before installing

Do NOT remove your profiles. Create a new blank profile. Is the problem still there?

I had restared, create a new blank profile using firefox -p command. Working for a while until syncing completed ( I didn't sync addon and preferences) . And it happened again.

I tried to download Firefox 35 and install. Working normally. Unfortunately, Firefox just upgraded to newest version automatically. If that error happend again, I'll will write another comment.

Some users have the same trouble with me :

Update : just happened again. Firefox 36.0.1, my network disconnected for a few minutes, after that I can't use Firefox to surf web so I close Firefox. But the process still remain in Taks Manager. Can't kill it. Created a new profile to open firefox, open a website and it keeps loading forever. Close Firefox, and another FF process appear in Task Manager.

Do it again. But TURN SYNC OFF ! ! Test the new profile. Is the problem still there? If not, it could be a setting that ended up in the sync.

Once you are sure, you can transfer your old profile to the new. But do not try to restore your settings. You will have to do it manually. Once you are set up properly, you will have to remove the old sync before using it again.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backup of files that you choose.
