After Firefox update I am forced to use Yahoo when I open new tabs. Everytime I change my search provider to Google it changes it back to Yahoo. I have found solutions to reset keyword.urI but am guessing it won't default back to google like it used to because of Firefox new partnership. I won't say what I am feeling right now until this posts and see if I am over reacting.

yes, your initial reaction is certainly understandable - such a behaviour would be of course against everything firefox stands for (first and foremost "user choice").

since these kind of crappy unwanted programs often come in bulk, i'd also recommend to run a full scan of your system with different free security tools like malwarebytes and adwcleaner - those are specialised in the detection of adware and browser hijackers.

hi jwservs, the reasons for changing the default search provider in firefox to yahoo are explained in https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2014/11/19/promoting-choice-and-innovation-on-the-web/

of course you are as free as always (before users weren't "forced" to use google either) to set your personally preferred search engine like google or any other choice as your default: Search bar - add, change and manage search engines on Firefox

Phillip sorry I overreacted and found a problem on my side which was not allowing my default search engine to stay as Google. After removing a malware program "search protect" my default search engine stays set to Google. My initial response was probably harsh but it kept resetting itself to Yahoo and with the changes Firefox made I thought it was the new norm.
