Hi! Today my tablet Google Nexus 7 updated to Android 5, and I noticed a problem with Firefox. I noticed that does not work HTML5 mp3 player / It can be seen on the website http://audiobook-online.com/?page_id=2971. Instead of playing a song, it is suggested to download the file. This same problem in Ubuntu system on a netbook Emachine M350. In Google Chrome everything is fine. This can be seen in the screenshots.

Yes this is a known issue. You will need to use Firefox Beta until Dec 1 or so to get h264 video playback. There are two other codecs webm and ogg video that continue to function. So sites that support multiple formats should continue to work.

On Ubuntu you will need to install the gstreamer ugly to be able to playback h264.

Hi! Thank you for your response. I use on my sites mp3 audio files - the most common audio formats. They work in all browsers, even Opera. If you download an additional file format on hosting server, it will take at least 2 times more space on a hosting, eg 800 GB instead of 400 GB. This is unacceptable. If the user goes to a site that does not work - it just closes it and will not download additional codecs. I hope that mozilla firefox team will fix it.

Thanks

Hi alex2013m, based on Ken's reference to Firefox Beta, the fix will be in Firefox 34, which is expected to release in about two weeks.

As a person recently notified of the availability of Lollipop, I'm not in a rush to install it... I imagine that it will be more than two weeks before a significant percentage of your site visitors are using it.

I just downloaded and installed mozilla beta and still does not work.
