unableto get rid of classic theme--I HATE SQUARED TABS & I miss the bottom toolbar that tells me where I am in the process of going to a new page.
1. How do I get rid of classic theme?--hating squared tabs. 2. Where is bottom toolbar that lets me know (as with emptying trash on my Mac) where I am in the process of going to a new page??

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
