I'm currently using 1.1 version of Firefox OS and I cannot update it to newer version as my shitty network operator won't release an update. In case you're wondering, it's Telenor in Serbia.

I've noticed in my OS specs that there is something called Update channel and it's set to my network operator. Is there any way of changing this to some other channel where updates are released more frequently?

Hi cvele89,

I understand your frustration with the wait to receive new updates on your Firefox OS device.

What device model do you have? The OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer) are responsible for testing and porting updates for the devices, and unfortunately, I am not aware of their development schedule.

If you wish to experiment flashing your device with a new version, please check the following page, created and maintained by contributors at Mozilla:

Please be aware that these are not "official" builds, and there is always a possibility of bricking the device when flashing.

Thanks,

- Ralph

Hi Ralph.

Thank you for taking time to provide me very useful answer.

I'm using Alcatel One Touch Fire.

I thought of flashing it and installing new version myself. I found few tutorials online where people explained in details how it's supposed to be done, but I haven't done that before and I'm afraid something could go wrong and end with bricked device, which is why I'm still reconsidering that option. Say, wouldn't that void the warranty I have on it? Like, I installed something they did not provide?
