more options

every time I open the browser it prompts me to update, I click on the update message and a window appears, showing a progress bar, under the bar it says connecting to update browser, it never connects ?? Otherwise I can connect any where I like the browser is fast and flawless and I love it. This a new MAC. I have also tried to to update by going to the mozilla site and checking for updates and then clicking on the update, but end with the same result.

Chosen solution

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the disk image file to the desktop

Your personal data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data when you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.
