Thunderbird is downloading new messages but failing to display them.

Other functionality remains active, ie I can see and open messages, delete all the contents of folders, compose and send messages, but when the software downloads new messages they simply do not display and cannot be accessed.

Not sure if it's relevant, but the message INBOX count appears to be stuck at the number 59, although more messages than that have been downloaded.

Bizarrely this is the message displayed whenever I now open the Thunderbird application (it was there when the problem first appeared and returns everytime). Out of desperation I even made a donation in the hope it would release the messages!

Since this morning there is no sign of my emails accounts and majority of functions appear disabled, it never happened before. Can somebody explain what happened?

Is this a known fluke. In group with more than one email I see the excerpts and can easily deal with them (delete) but if there is only one in a group I can do nothing?

I don't know if this is the correct topic to select but there is nothing more relevant.I am using windows 11 and When I try to delete e mails (G mail) I click on the e mail and then delete. The e mail then disappears and I then quit out of e mails. However the next time i go into my e mails it is back again. The only way i can get them to delete is to again tick the e mail i want to delete and then click delete. If I then go into something else e.g. drafts or spam and then quit out of the e mails when i go back in the e mail i wanted to delete has gone. I have tried resetting firefox but makes no difference

I have several Yahoo accounts set up in Thunderbird, but I get this frequent (several times a day) error notification from just one:

"The current operation on 'Inbox' did not succeed. The mail server for account Yahoo (xxxxxxx) responded: p."

I'm sure this is a truncation of the complete error message. How can I see the complete message?

There seems to be no consequence of the "error" - everything appears to work as normal. It's just annoying.

My email was working then suddenly stopped. I have been connected to AT&T (Currently and Yahoo). I finally got it touch with AT&T mail. They claim that they no longer support or connect with Thunderbird.

Does anyone know if this is this correct?

My business has two domains. I can send email to a Gmail account holder using the primary domain with no issues. But amy emails from what I call the "secondary" domain below are treated as spam. This occurs with two different email addresses using the secondary domain.

Both domains are hosted with Bluehost. Exhaustive research has revealed the following:

• Settings in Thunderbird are exactly the same, e.g. ports, security, SSL/TLS, etc. for each domain.
• There is no subject line or content that could possibly be regarded as spam.
• MXToolbox indicates that the secondary domain is not on any blacklist.
• Extended support via Bluehost reveals that SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records are all correct.
• Email sent to a Gmail account using the CPanel (Roundcube) is not flagged as spam. Only emails sent via Thunderbird are flagged.
• Emails sent to a Gmail account from the secondary domain using my mobile phone, but still on the same network/IP address, are not flagged as spam.
• If I first send an email to one of the secondary domain emails FROM Gmail, then reply to it, the reply is not flagged as spam.

After many hours of head scratching (and later, head banging), I am pretty much at my wit's end with this problem. I'm an electronic engineer but this one is definitely out of my wheelhouse. Any help would most certainly be appreciated!

I have many years and email accounts on my old WIN10 workstation running all POP installations.

I have a new workstation with WIN11. Is it possible to install TB on my new workstation with my accounts installed as IMAP and keep the same folder configuration? I have many email folders and filters setup on the old workstation installation.

I would appreciate any installation recommendations. I've been using TB for years and would like to keep as much of the current configuration as possible.

For the first time today I have been unable to send emails from any of my Microsoft accounts - I tried 3 of them.

gmail required me to sign in - but won't accept the UK phone number I entered to verify my account! My TalkTalk email - which I don't normally use - did 'nothing', but I didn't have a pop up message.

I don't think I'm receiving emails for any of my accounts either.

The first message attached has 'popped up' every time I opened Thunderbird Mail for some time, but it did not affect sending or receiving emails.

I saw something new to me under Programs and Features and have attached a screenshot of that, along with full details of my Thunderbird version.

Help, please!

I'm using Thunderbird 115.18.0 and just today it's behaving bizarrely. Crashed twice for no reason, and emails are taking "forever" to delete -- normally they delete immediately (unless they have an enormous attachment), but today I have to wait about 4 seconds for one short text only email to delete. Compacted folders, and made no difference.

Any ideas? Anything I can do to return to my normal I love Thunderbird condition?

For the past few days I have been using Thunderbird as my mail app for office 365 account and it has been working however today I have attempted to send an email and it has stopped being able to. I get prompted to re-enter the password go through the login and the 2FA and then get to the "You're all set" response page and when I go back to the thunderbird app I get prompted to re-auth again.

Are there any troubleshooting steps I can follow to find out at what stage it is failing?

I have it configured for smtp-mail.outlook.com with port 587, StartTLS and OAuth2 selected. A username is also configured.

When starting thunderbird, the program cannot find my e-mails and does not respond. It is frozen. deinstallation and new installation did not help. The version i do not know because I cannot open the menue.

I keep getting authentication failure while connecting to server for different accounts every time I start thunderbird. It's usually just one and sometimes 2 accounts that fail. When I click on the individual accounts they start working just fine. I get this for yahoo, gmail, outlook and a couple of others. Something to do with the initial start of thunderbird I think.

Aloha. I'm helping a friend with setting up a new Windows 11 PC, and cannot get Thunderbird to connect to Spectrum's servers. I spent an hour on the phone with Spectrum support and they just gave up and said it must be an issue with Thunderbird. Here are the details:

- Brand new Dell 24 All-in-One EC24250 - Windows 11 25H2 plus all additional fixes. - All Dell drivers updated. - Thunderbird V155.0 64-bit

If I click on 'Get Messages' after a while I get: "Connection to server mail.twc.com timed out". I've gone into the config editor and changed mailnews.tcptimeout from 100 to 500 and still get the error.

In the Account Settings | Server Settings | Test server connection I get: An error occurred connecting to mail.twc.com:993.

I've tried this with both setting up a brand new account in Thunderbird, and also via copying the 'Thunderbird' folder from %appdata%\roaming from her old machine.

Email configuration (from Spectrum).

IMAP Settings Server name: mail.twc.com Port: 993 user name: abcd@hawaii.rr.com Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: Normal password

Can anyone help me troubleshoot this scenario?

I have set up 4 email accounts in Thunderbird. I tried today to set up another email account with the same domain. selected the New Account Button (email only); then pop up screen to add name of account user and users email address. next menu, TB was successful finding the server but a small yellow flag says "unknown hostname" but lists the 3rd party host, that there is SSL/TSL security and the user name matches the new account information just entered. Incoming settings looked correct. The next screen is Choose email account type and it was auto populated by TB and all info is correct. Next, enter password (for new account?) and TB fails to create a new account. Says Authentication error unable to log in at server. Tried doing the manual config. Outgoing server protocol shows SMPT when it should be IMAP (correct?) but the field is un-selectable. So results are same, Unable to log in to server.

the manual config screen has a host name field and it is autofilled with my company's name.domain but it is misspelled! Tried to edit but no success. I really need to get this new account up quick! So asking for any help available.

Reinstall of Thunderbird after a few years easy with all my old (sub) folders captured from service provider. However, neither delete folder (via any option) nor create folder is acted upon. Also ignored is attempt to rename a folder. Inbox contains over 23 000 messages but none after 5 December 2025. Deleting hundreds permanently on provider has no effect on Thunderbird. Some folders are empty but but are labelled as containing hundreds of messages.

Trying to send a message results in error, 'Could not detect login form.' But I am logged in.

Any pointers to unclogging system gratefully received. Chris Oldman

I have my gmail emails rerouted to my outlook email address and in past week my emails are not showing up in Thunderbird for a number of days after they are visable in my outlook program. Why? I have compared my Thunderbird settings with my partner and they are the same. Only difference is that my partner picks up her gmail email directly, does not use outlook and does not reroute her emails. She does not have any problems with emails arriving late to her Thunderbird inbox. We are both using same version. Any suggestions?

This just started today. I am seeing question marks between the sentences in my messages. I had this issue a number of years ago and do not remember the fix. I am running the latest version on my Windows 7 desktop. It is just the new messages not the older ones in file.

Anyone remember the fix?
