The instructions in the article on sorting bookmarks by name does not work with Windows 7. How can one sort the bookmarks in the bookmark menu in alphabetical order?

The sorting bookmarks article states "At the top of the Firefox window, open the View menu, select Sidebar, then click Bookmarks ...." I do not have "View menu". I have a red tab which stated "Firefox" with a drop down menu. The drop down menu has "Bookmarks" on the right sidebar. Clicking on Bookmarks opens a menu with all sorted bookmarks below the "Mozilla Firefox" line or folder. The problem is that they are in the order in which they were bookmarked. I want to put them in alphabetical order but following the instruction - right click and selecting "sort by name" does nothing.
