There is no sign in button next to sync and save on my Ipad in the menu or under settings, I have spent over an hour on trying to sync my bookmarks with no response from mozilla. Support is very lacking.

If you are already signed into Firefox Sync, the "sync and save" option should be replaced by your email address.
