I'd recently changed to Mozilla's VPN and decided to move my passwords & login's Firefox too, but when attempting to move it over, creating a CVS file on my desktop, but Dashlane's format wasn't acceptable to Lockwise and couldn't continue.

I'd found this article here, archived, that address this very issue, but I'm not smart enough to follow the conversation and make sense of it.

[[import passwords from dashlane|https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1304027]]

I know it's how this fellow converted his Dashlane, but as I say I don't quite understand if this was a bat file or what...???

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

In that question the user used a Dashlane JSON export and converted this file to a Firefox CSV file.

What is the header (first line) in the Dashlane CSV file that specifies the order of the columns ?

Firefox uses this for an exported logins.csv file:

"url","username","password","httpRealm","formActionOrigin","guid","timeCreated","timeLastUsed","timePasswordChanged"

If Dashlane uses something different then you may have to convert the file. You may have to add the protocol (https:// or http://) in front of the domain if this is missing.

Thank you for your response Cor-el, I'd seen that in the original post, but I confuse myself when I start formatting it in my head.. .. To show you what I mean, this is how Dashlane has their's formatted:

"Url","httpRealm","UserName","Email","empty column","Password"

It's the different sites that we go to that have different login's that make me pause... some use a "UserName" and no email, some use just an email, and some use both...as you can see Dashlane has it formatted with "Url" (no http), then I'm guessing "httpRealm" because it's the same as the first column (again no http). The column for "UserName", then a column "Email", then an empty column, then "Password". I have no idea about the rest that's mentioned, there's nothing in Dashlane that I can compare it too since nothing else is listed...

I'd hoped there'd be a conversion tool, but since there isn't, I'd do it myself if I could just see, specifically, how it should be laid out. As I said, when it came to the "UserName" and "Email" and those with both.. ..just not quite sure.. ..ya know.. ..

Again I really appreciate the help...

Edit: The original post mentions his solution was writing a script to convert a Dashlane json file to a compatible Firefox CVS...I don't suppose anyone understands scripting???

Firefox needs the protocol for the URL, so if http:// or https:// is missing then you can possibly try to add it.
