When I attempt to use Firefox, everything hangs unless I continuously move the mouse.

I've searched all over the internet for a resolution to this issue. I've seen lots of indications that Malware is the issue. My computer is issued and maintained remotely by the company I work for. It regularly scans for Malware so I don't think that could be the issue. I am running a brand new install of FireFox that I installed today. I have not installed any Add-Ons or signed into the browser. The only plugin I've authorized is Flash (necessary for the site I need to use to work).

I've actually had this issue for years. I keep trying to use FireFox every once in a while figuring an update will eventually resolve the issue. So far it always re-occurs. I'm now at a point where I have a program I need to use that won't work on Chrome or IE so I really would like to be able to use FireFox.

Hi try the portable version of https://www.adlice.com/download/roguekiller/ to scan for any issues.

Update your mouse software if possible, Check Device Manager for what driver your using. It also could be a port/usb driver issue.

If have been reinstalling, next time do it this way : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 60.0.2 with a Full Version Installer

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

This could be a malware problem.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

I can't run any of these programs on my computer because it only allows software from the company to be used. However the issue has happened since the computer was brand new out of the box, so it would seem unlikely that Malware would be the cause. It also happened on the computer they had issued me prior to this one.

At one point our IT department did try to fix the issue for me, and they did do their own Malware scans, but the issue persisted.

Are there any other possible causes / solutions that don't involve downloading software?

Hi, I have seen Malware/Viruses come on driver disks straight from the manufacturer that came with the brand new system. Yes it is unlikely but not impossible.

Nor is it improbable that the server that looks after everything infects everything if not looked after and updated properly.

Is there a reason why you can not run the portable version of https://www.adlice.com/download/roguekiller/ from a USB as it is not installing anything. ??

If you can not perform these things please take your system to your Sys Admin to figure out. Thank You.

I did run the remote one - though not from a USB. It just brought up a bunch of system processes that I can't delete.

I will go back to the Help Desk again - unfortunately they are an outsourced group so usually aren't very helpful :(

Thanks for trying!
