Clicking hamburger menu causes browser to freeze.

Publicadas

When I click the hamburger icon, Firefox freezes. Sometimes it comes back but with the hamburger menu closed. I've reinstalled the browser. I've "Refreshed" the browser once when I was able to get into the help troubleshooting screen. This is not my main browser so I don't have any addons or anything. I keep it in its vanilla state in order to test applications.

I am running Windows 10. I have plenty of resources and a solid state hard drive. This is not a problem with my hardware. I've attached a GIF animation demonstrating the crash.

I've seen this issue with eBay where some info didn't show up. Did you try another Browser to see if it does the same or different?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Yes. When loading in safe mode, the problem is still there.

I will also point out that I'm not the only one in my office with this type or problem. Two others have this problem, and it seems to have arisen with the last update or so.

What are you talking about? This isn't a website not working. It is the browser chrome ‡ itself that's not working. Google Chrome and Edge work fine thank you.

‡ By chrome (little c) I'm not talking about Google Chrome. Chrome refers to the browser UI and primary process. They really need to come up with another word for this.

Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

Save the file. Then Close Firefox.

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86)

Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac

Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux

If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Look for, and remove any Mozilla or Firefox program folders.
