No idea as never used Chrome.
There are a few Focus extensions : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/extensions/
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
Note that it is likely that the OP means that if you open the Google search page that focus is set to the search bar on that page. In case of Google this is done via a script that runs on the Google web pages.
The builtin home and new tab page do not seem to do this.
For the new tab page you can look at this extension to see if that works:
- New Tab Override: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-override/

Thanks for clarifying. I did mean exactly what you wrote.
I don't really want to add an extension just for this purpose. I want my list of addons to be simple. If there is no way I can set FF to do so I'll just have to make google my homepage.
Is there a reason you prefer to type into the search bar in the home page instead of typing your search into the address bar, where the cursor is already?

The home buttom doesn't seem to put the cursor on the address bar either.

Oh, I was thinking of a new window. Clicking the Home button in an existing tab focuses the page body, but not a specific location in the body.
But why click the home button to start searching? If you click in the address bar (or press F6 or Ctrl+L), you can just start typing your search there.

I usually open a new tab to search (middle click) Yes I can use the new tab or bookmark google, but was wondering if I had a way to use the home button with FF home page conveniently.
