"Bookmarks" tab doesn't say "Edit" if I already have a website bookmarked. It used to.
Using Windows 7 , FF 50.0.2

The problem is with the Bookmarks menu on the "classic" menu bar?
What still should happen is:
- Page you're viewing is NOT bookmarked
- Empty/outline star on the toolbar
- "Bookmark This Page" appears on the classic Bookmarks menu just below Show All Bookmarks
- Page you're viewing IS bookmarked
- Blue star on the toolbar
- "Edit This Bookmark" appears on the classic Bookmarks menu just below Show All Bookmarks
If the star is highlighted blue indicating the current tab is bookmarked then you should see a tooltip "Edit this bookmark" on hover with the mouse.
Does this happen?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
- Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

OK, I learned something. I did not know the function of the sometimes blue star. Armed with that info I set out to find which websites act incorrectly, as not all of them do. Here is what I found so far:
I have a bookmark "pharma-house.net/desyrel.htm" If I click on it, I go there, but the star is not filled in. Hovering says: "Bookmark this page..", not "edit" as it should. If I do bookmark it again, I get another entry in my bookmarks but without the .htm suffix. It is different, I suppose. Should I just ignore this?

Sometimes websites change structure and redirect Firefox from the bookmarked address to a new one. In that case, you're right, Firefox does not update the bookmark automatically, you have to make that change yourself.
