Is there anyway to force Firefox to print a web page wysiwyg (What You See Is What You Get). For example attempting to print https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles#os=win7&browser=fx20 even with the "Print background images and colors" option on results in significant formatting differences form the way the page appears in Firefox.

Hi hj21c1yg,

I understand from your message that you would like to print to paper, an exact copy of what you see on a screen. Please check if any of the following add-ons could possibly solve your issue:

We hope that one of these add-ons are can help you with what you are trying to accomplish. Please let us know if this solves your issue, or if you have any other questions.

Thanks!!

Note that a lot of web pages use a special stylesheet for printing, so would need to take a screenshot of the full page and print the resulting image to get an exact representation.

Current Firefox versions have a built-in feature to take a screenshot as part of the Web Developer Toolbar.

  • Web Developer > Developer Toolbar

You can use this if you only need a screenshot occasionally because you need to use a command line and can't click a button or use the context menu.

A quick way to save a screenshot is to press the "s", then the F1 key will bring up a help pop-up where you can click the "screenshot" entry' or use cursor up/down and enter.

You will have to type the options yourself because clicking an entry in the pop-up that appears after the first "-" doesn't work.

The default file name is "Screen Shot yyyy-mm-dd at HH.MM.SS.png" in the download directory. help screenshot
