Firefox 5 taking ≥ 70% of cpu (2 x 2,8 GHz Quad-Core Xeon)

I typically keep a lot of browser windows open, many with several tabs. Firefox just bogs down, and when I look at the Activity Monitor, it shows Firefox taking almost all (≥ 70%) of the cpu. AND THAT IS A LOT OF CPU!! This occurs even though I am usually actively using only one window.

When this occurs, I am only using about half my RAM (have 14 GB).
