Firefox not responding on startup on macbook running snow leopard

I have a macbook running snow leopard, but I had this problem under 10.5.6 too. When I try to start Firefox it bounces in the dock, but never opens a window. I finally open the Force Quit window it says Firefox not responding. This started when I upgraded Firefox to 3.6.12 so I got 3.6.13, but still have the problem
