When FF is displaying a PDF (AcroRd32.exe) page 1 (the URL below) displays correctly, but when the "next page" arrow in AcroRd is clicked, it hangs, though FF shows "Done" in the status bar. Killing FF with Task Manager, then restarting FF, everything works as expected.

I have seen this on more than one web site, too.

Hello.

You sound like you're having problems with your PDF reading plugin. Please contact it's author for support.

Since its author is Adobe, and it's the latest version, I doubt that. My starting point for diagnosing this would be, how could FF be causing these symptoms?

Why exactly would you think that Firefox is more prone to be buggy than Adobe Reader? Adobe is well known for developing buggy and unstable software, for one. Besides, Firefox is open source, and Adobe Reader isn't, so it's not like Mozilla can really work with Adobe Reader in mind (not that they should, mind you, plugins are made for browsers, not browsers for plugins), while Adobe can work with Firefox in mind all they want, since they have access to the source code of both software.

What exactly are you trying to get at? Isn't your Firefox the latest version too? What? I don't get it.

Because I have seen a lot of bugs in FF, but very few in AcroReader. Although Adobe reader isn't open source, the standard for PDF files is publicly available.

In fact, FF just installed an update, between the time I wrote the initial message.

Finally, I look for bugs in FF first because it is open source, and there are people who are willing to share their knowledge.

Yeah, the standard for PDF reading because of marketing. Foxit Reader, for example, completely annihilates it.

But that's besides the point. If you have a problem with a plugin, you need to contact its author. He'll help you. And if they see that there's a bug in their plugin, hopefully they'll fix it. But if they see that the bug is with Firefox (and they have the competence to see that), they'll contact Mozilla themselves, don't worry.

I'm sorry I can't be of more assistance, but I don't have knowledge to help you.
