and the most annoying issue:
I tried closing Firefox, deleting handlers.json, but this behavior did not change.

I got a 5 billionth searcher scam site redirect... for some reason no script does not catch this. I have attached a picture of my addons, which are all recommended, and a picture of the scam page.
I have had this happen in the past and I have no idea why.
I am most worried about my passwords being stolen.
I am using linux mint 18.3 and have no idea how to check for malware.
Also, I should mention that when I use my landline to make phone calls (keep in mind that I am using DSL), I sometimes will get this odd redirect of my actual phone calls that will keep asking me about special offers over and over again. I called the phone company about it and they did nothing, after repeated calls..... but anyway, I wonder if that may be linked to the problem.
What should I do?

Running Linux Mint Mate 19.2 on two computers. Starting about 2 weeks ago, when trying to sign into providencejournal.com (with a paid subscription) using Firefox 97.0.1, just one of the computers displays an error message, see attached. We have used that site for years without issues, and the other computer still signs in correctly. On the problem computer I have just installed the Opera browser, for test purposes, and with Opera the sign-in succeeds. In F/F, I have tried disabling extensions, allowing all trackers and cookies, and reinstalling Javascript, all to no avail. preference is to use F/F, can anyone offer a solution?

Dear volunteers,
I am on Debian 11, Firefox 98.0.1.
Firefox reader mode only seems to render half the article I am currently on, example:
https://www.newyorker.com/news/q-and-a/the-purges-in-putins-shrinking-inner-circle
The reader view only renders up to "I think it’s a big challenge for them." but the actual article continues.
Is this a bug on my setup?
Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Running a Raspberry pi 4 4gb with mx fluxbox raspbian buster armhf v7l constant crashes started after recent upgrade to 96.0 and subsequent to 97.1 Everything (synced login and all addons and extentions) operated normally on 93.x version
Most recent submitted Crash ID: bp-bd022bc5-32c8-44d3-a5ee-06f700220322
Also installed Pi-Apps and installed firefox rolling release 98 same constant crashing result... usually within the first minute of startup.
I also run other linux rpi4 OS's such as manjaro, ubuntu mate, these are runnung arm64 (aarch64) not experiencing any crashes... Perhaps this is a bug recently encountered running the os as stated atop?
Any Help or Insight would be greatly appreciated... Thank You Kindly, For conferring your time and talent on this matter of importance.
Cordially, Cal H

I am using version 91.5.0esr (64-bit). Virtually always, the download status shows as failed. Yet, there were files created by the download. I have even been able to go back literally months in the downloads history, click to retry each download, which is then showed as being successful. I did NOT reload the pages whose content I was trying to download. I realize that a browser tends to have a cache, but surely not that big. I'm guessing that showing the status failed is some type of error.

Hello my dear friends, Hello my beloved family, Hello Everyone,
This is the first time reaching your support because i never had any issue with any of your products ( I mainly use firefox as a browser for pc(ubuntu) but also on android devices).
I am writing you this email to express my gratitude and happiness for being a faithfull user since your debut(at least since when i had internet and a pc in the old days :D)
I really loved your professional attitude. I really learned alot from YOU. I really love you.
Plz continue your greate ACTIONS( at least this is what i think) and don't let the giants of internet ( i won't name any company so they don't sue me hhhh) try to confuse use or steal your faith in the "STRONG COMMUNITY".
YOU KNOW WHY BECAUSE ALL THESE giants BETRAYED MY EXPECTATIONS (at least the major ones that i know) BUT ONLY ONLY ONLY ONE PRODUCT NEVER BETRAYED MY EXPECTATIONS !!!
THIS PRODUCT IS "FIREFOX BROWSER" (i swear to god to all gods in all languages that this is TRUE at least for me :D)
Really love YOU ALL. Your Sincerally. Your thankfully. Your Brother.

I am using Firefox on Linux. Recently I noticed that Firefox changes the location temporary download files are saved.
For example, I ask Firefox to always ask when downloading a PDF file, then I click on a link to a PDF file. A dialog window pops out and I select "Open with (application name)". Then Firefox saves the PDF file in some location and opens the file with the application I select.
The problem is that I want to modify the some location above. An earlier version saves the file to `/tmp/mozilla_${USER}0`, where `${USER}` is my username on Linux. However, I recently noticed that this location is changed to `~/Downloads`. For some of reasons I want to keep my Downloads folder manually managed. Is there a way to change the temporary download location back to `/tmp/mozilla_${USER}0`?

Is it possible to have different firefox accounts, hence different bookmarks, passwords, ... on different containers?
I have no idea what happened. Suddenly, now I have to hover over the address bar to see it.
Other than reinstalling, what is the fix for this?

I recently deleted the file with firefox settings (can't remember the name) cause i was unable to what netflix/hbo. now however, whenever i open firefox my pinned tabs (16 tabs) does not reload the pages as in does not refresh the content of the page. it use to refresh the page inside these pinned tabs when i open firefox but now the pages are still the old version. i have to refresh these pinned tabs manually.
so is there any settings to make these pinned tabs to actually refresh the page when i open firefox? i'm confuse why firefox it still shows that its loading the page cause it actually show the same page content that was a day before.

Firefox updates automatically at random points in time and destroys all the work as I cannot open any new tab(every new tab says something about restarting Firefox). This causes severe problems as some people may use Firefox for work and it may be quite a f__k up when you're discussing something with your client and out of a sudden you need to tell them that all you've been building up for the last 20minutes needs to be done again and you're short of time because the meeting ends in, let's say, 10 minutes.
That means Firefox is not useful for professional use like business, science(reported by someone else https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1314749 ) and probably other fields.
How about telling the user that Firefox is going to update when restarted but not forcing the user to restart it NOW and to destroy user's work at random points in time?
Besides the above Firefox dosen't restore the tabs when forcefully quits to do the update which not only makes me lose the content of a form that was being filled but also varius tabs that were opened at that time.
I'm aware that I can disable automatic updates by setting one of the parameters to false in about:config but I'm not sure whether I'll be informed about updates in this case and what's more this doesn't make Firefox suitable for a regular user that may not have this knowledge. Chrome is more friendly to regular users in this case.

Have been informed from the website owner that the IT person has tested this with Explorer, Safari and Chrome, and all work. The IT support person then goes on to state - "....... that the client needs to use a different browser as Firefox is very outdated."
So, I was using the latest version and it is "very outdated" ???
How can I respond ? Is there a training course for the IT person to deepen their skill level ?

Until about a month ago, every time I clicked on a download link to save a file, Firefox asked whether I want to save the file to my downloads folder, or to just open it, which would save it to a folder in my temp folder that would be deleted when I close Firefox.
Now, out of nowhere, it doesn't ask the question anymore, it automatically assumes I want to save it to a folder (instead of "opening" it).
Before anyone tells me to go to Settings -> General -> Applications, and set the file types to "Always ask", I have tried, and there are two problems with it:
Also, I'm using Manjaro Linux with KDE, and I also have the Plasma Integration extension installed on Firefox.

Having just upgraded my Debian 9 machine to Mint 20, this has updated my firefox browser.
Everything was going fine until I came across the problem where by all image downloads are saved as webp images, a format that my favourite image editing software cannot handle.
This is a bit of a pain and has made me start looking at alternative web browsers.
Just thought you should know how simple things can cause a loss of support.
