How do I get my cursor to go to the browser bar when I put the arrow there and click nothing happens

On the other two browsers that I have when I put the arrow in the browser bar and click on it I can type in the URL of a website.

With firefox I can't do this

If there is an URL in the browser bar when you put the arrow there and click on it the browser bar turns blue and you can type in the new URL.

This doesn't happen with firefox.

So unless I have something in the bookmarks I cannot go to another webpage. Nothing happens when I try to type in a new URL

Any help would be appreciated.
