I want to use two separate Microsoft email accounts on Thunderbird. I was able to add the first one using the IMAP option. When I tried to add another existing email I got the pop-up error "Incoming server already exists". I have researched this forum with no results even though this question has been posted many times. Yes, I know it is the same server, both are Microsoft accounts. They are *different email accounts using the same server*. How can I explain this to Thunderbird? I do not see any option to get past this. Any ideas?

I can't duplicate this. I suggest you delete the account, exit Thunderbird, then restart Thunderbird and click File>New>Existing Email Account.

Thank you David. Actually after deleting the account and restarting Thunderbird, I was not able to re-create the first account, due to that same error.

I then turned on 'Troubleshoot Mode' and I was able to create both account.

A new development is that I have not turned off troubleshoot mode, and TB keeps asking me for my passwords again and again, although they were supposed to be saved.

With the problems you are having, I suggest you do a full uninstall, including the profile, and start over.

That would have been too much trouble, I have many old emails which take forever to download into the new account. Anyway, I entered the passwords a couple more times, without clicking on 'save with password manager', and Thunderbird finally stabilized itself. It was also keeping my machine hot for a while but that got better. I assume all the downloading was causing it. It is still going on but my CPU seems OK now. I am still using Windows7 pro, by the way, and my old Outlook 2010 got blocked from the server as of yesterday by "the server administrator".
